This lot is for a circa 1950’s or early 1960’s Bra & Girdle Store Display. My parents – Buddy and Brownie – had a chain of lingerie shops and this is an actual store display I kept from their first store, Elaine’s Underfashion Shop in the Charlottetown Mall, Charlotte, N.C. Take a look at my blog and you will see a short film I made in this store in 1971. Am still researching which lingerie company manufactured this beauty. The name Maidenform comes to mind. If there are any lingerie experts out there that can further ID, email and I will post.
The plaster figure is 9 inches tall with a large screw at the bottom. I have no recollection what the original stand of this figure looked like, so I had a 4 x 4 inch, 2 inch thick plexi stand made for it. The piece now stands 11 inches tall – and looks something like a cross between a scantily-clad Academy Award and a modern art sculpture – which of course, it now is. Don’t miss this beauty – she’s guaranteed to cause a stir in any collection!
Some light wear to the plaster – I’d grade this beauty to be in Very Fine to Extra Fine condition.
Give this piece a good home and carry on the family tradition!.
